Learning Modules

This module is geared toward recognizing the impact of historical trauma on Indigenous communities and our families. It provides an overview of ICWA and a foundational understanding of why professionals who work within
children’s advocacy centers need to have a working understanding of ICWA and the importance of walking alongside Indian families and communities with cultural humility.

This training discusses the purpose of mandatory reporting, providing an overview of the history of child protection throughout North America, reviewing the definitions of child abuse and neglect, as well as providing a glimpse of the current data and the impacts of child maltreatment. It examines what constitutes a mandatory reporter, the processes involved in mandatory reporting, and the reporting responsibilities of multidisciplinary teams and child advocacy centers.
