Course Description: The Department of Justice's National Indian Country Training Initiative (NICTI) is pleased to announce a webinar series titled “Forensic Interviewing of Child and Adolescent Victims and Witnesses in Indian Country.” The webinar series will be held from April 12-14, 2022. The webinar platform is WebEx. The training will focus on the interviewing process used with children for the purpose of providing evidence to the police, prosecutors, and court regarding the investigation and prosecution of suspected abuse. The training will cover the latest research-based information on interviewing techniques. The goal of a forensic interview is to obtain a statement from a child in a developmentally-sensitive, unbiased, and truth-seeking manner. This training is designed for federal and tribal law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and social workers who have significant responsibility for conducting forensic interviews of child and adolescent victims and witnesses. Priority will be given to those individuals regularly working cases in Indian Country. The expectation is that applicants will attend the entire course. There is no fee to attend this training. CLE will not be provided.
This media and materials are for Department of Justice use and subject to protection from release under the Freedom of Information Act, 5 U.S.C. section 552.
The Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA) will provide reasonable accommodations to people with disabilities. Requests should be made to the course POC as early as possible, preferably at least three weeks in advance of the training.
