2021 Tribal Access Program Applications

The Department of Justice is expanding the Tribal Access Program (TAP) for National Crime Information. This program allows federally recognized tribes to access national crime databases for both criminal justice and non-criminal justice purposes. For example, tribal child welfare providers can use data from the system to run background checks when making emergency kinship placements. This allows for an enhancement of child safety, as well as reducing the potential trauma of placement changes that result from the information gathering prior to long-term placement decisions. Applications are being accepted through August 31. Download the application and submit it at TAP.App@usdoj.gov. See this FAQ for more information about TAP eligibility and the TAP system more broadly.
